This is saved under one of my favorite escapes from the city. They have beautiful, easy trails that immerse you in nature. They also have animal rescues and rehabilitated animals as well - from owls, to falcons, to eagles, to possums and tortoises! In the visitor’s center, they have reptiles and insects! It’s a great place to clear your mind, do some light aerobic activity, or to educate your young kids. The place is maintained well and is clean. The staff are friendly and engaging. They offer so many free activities and programs. It’s never full any time I’ve gone either so I’m a bit weary to promote it because I want to keep it an IYKYK kind of gem, but a place like this that offers so much beauty and help for free should be shared. Please come and support them!
This was a beautiful evening spent at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge. If you've not visited, put it on your list to do so. The hubby found it last week when the news did a story on it. The kids would love all the activities they have to offer as well as walking the trails. Our little one immersed himself with every turn. And the beautiful colored leaves just stopped us in our tracks.
Looking for a quiet place to recharge and soak up the beauty of Mother Nature? Quogue wildlife refuge is the perfect place! Take a stroll on one of the three trails that are surrounded by trees. They host special family events throughout the year. On your walk, there are benches to sit and take a rest. Enjoy the fall colors that reflect off the lake. Enjoy!
This place is awesome! There are two gigantic turtles in the pond and incredible owls that get very close to you in their enclosures, among other animals. It's breathtakingly beautiful and even my toddler loved it. We were a little disappointed that the nature center closed at 4 but I'm sure that's the best they can do with their budget. I'd come here instead of the zoo any day. Please visit and donate.
Beautiful refuge! They had some great views and beautiful trails and a very cute nature center with some animals you can look at. We had a great time!
We went out here for the first time today, and we were so pleasantly surprised! The grounds and animals are clearly well cared for, and we had a great time exploring, despite the dreary day. We also signed up for a "Meet the Animals" presentation, which was WONDERFUL! For only $5 pp, we got to get up close and personal with multiple animals for about an hour. The animal educator was SO friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable. FIVE STARS, we will definitely return!
It's a beautiful place
I'm supporting them for years but this is the first time I went cuz it's a bit far from my home
I was there for a watercolor painting group
I intend to return soon and walk the trail around old ice pond.
This is a great place to bring the kids to see wildlife that's being cared for. There are many trails to take and beautiful nature to see. There's owls, falcons, tortoises, snakes and more!
